Colores

In 2019 Ruth Holland Waddell and John Henry Waddell celebrated 70 years of marriage. After his passing later that year, Ruth lay down her pastels to take the inward journey of mourning and acceptance. On the one year anniversary of her husband’s passing, Ruth ascended the steps to the Waddell studio and created her first of a series of explosively vibrant floral pastels that she would continue producing until the end of her own life in 2023. Colores is an example of the unique complexity of configuration and beauty which she instilled in each of these living pastels.
