Spanning over five decades of creative mastery, the exhibition will run from September 4 through October 28, hosted across two key Sedona cultural landmarks: the Sedona Heritage Museum and the Mary D. Fisher Fine Art Complex.
Widely acclaimed as the "Grand Canyon Artist of the Century," Curt Walters is celebrated for his vibrant color palettes, mastery of light, and deep environmental advocacy. This dual-venue retrospective offers visitors an unprecedented look into Walters’ artistic evolution, featuring iconic Southwest landforms, international plein-air studies, and previously unreleased private collection works. This is Curt’s first exhibition in Sedona since 1989 – a true homecoming!

To capture the full scope of Walters’ prolific career, FAMoS has structured the retrospective across two complementary venues:

The Sedona Heritage Museum: Impressions of Sedona 1980-2000 (Historical Roots & Southwestern Landscapes): This venue focuses on Walters' early career in Sedona and his deep sensitivity to the changing landscape in Northern Arizona, Sedona and the Verde Valley. With great sensitivity and dedication, he has captured the mood of the 1980s-2000 in paint, and we see dramatic topography and historic sites and buildings through this artist eye.

The Mary D. Fisher Fine Art Complex Global Visions & Contemporary Works: The focus of the show is Grand Canyon and majestic Sedona with large-scale studio and plein air canvases, but visitors will also experience Curt’s fascination the Spanish Conquistador’s first encounter with Grand Canyon in 1540. Armor pieces from Curt’s personal collection will accompany his drawings and paintings. This exhibit will also showcase Walters’ expansive international travels—including plein-air studies from Europe, Asia, and our own southwest, with early works lending insight to his early career with paintings of New Mexico.

Reception at the Mary Fisher Theaters location: Curt will be attendance and will sign copies of his new award-winning book, “Resilience: The Life History and Grand Canyon Art of Curt Walters,” will be available for purchase and Curt will be signing books at all events and for purchase at both locations. Curt has authored a new catalog of the exhibition will be available for a donation to FAMoS.

Location: Sedona Heritage Museum location and FAMoS Gallary Room
Opening Reception with drinks and refreshments at the Sedona Heritage Museum. Curt will be in attendance. Enjoy the exhibition and in the Apple Shed the premier of a Miranda Walters' new documentary “Curt Walters: A Lifetime of Art” inspired by this exhibit and the award winning biography, Resilience: The Life and Grand Canyon Art of Curt Walters. The author dDamian Forman reads several passages with his rich voice from his writings in these pages and the visual history of Curt’s life is dramatically told with video and photos spanning the artist life and career. Curt and Mr. Foreman will be in attendance to speak about the partnership and creation of this amazing book. Plus visit the Sedona Heritage Museum FAMoS Gallery Room for Curt's exhibit "Impressions of Sedona 1980-2000" as well as other ONE NIGHT ONLY paintings in the Apple Shed.

FAMoS First Friday Event: Enjoy refreshments on the patios of the Mary Fisher complex and view this amazing exhibition. Curt will be in attendance to talk about his art and “Curt Walters: A Lifetime of Art” his new documentary film will show at 4PM and 6:30PM in the Alice G Sheldon theater.
