Grandmother's Gift

This sculpture depicts a Navajo grandmother passing on to her granddaughter a treasured concho belt. The models for this piece were Navajo friends of the artist. The small concho belt used was gifted to Susan from the Cowboy Artist of America, John Hampton.
A longtime resident of Arizona, Susan Kliewer is an award-winning sculptor. She spent five years at Marble Canyon Trading post, adjacent to the Navajo Reservation. Among her many public and private installations, is the large-scale monument of Sedona Schnebly installed in front of the Sedona Public Library.

On loan from a private collection.
